Begin with pickup from your hotel within Sandakan or Sandakan Airport, then drive to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre. Established in 1964, the centre helps orphaned and displaced orangutans recover the skills they need for life in the forest. From the viewing area, you may witness feeding time and photograph orangutans in a protected rainforest setting.
After the orangutan visit, continue to the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. Here, raised forest walkways allow you to observe rescued sun bears as they climb, forage and move through open-air forest enclosures.
