Accommodation guide
Each Asia Green Travels accommodation option supports a different travel rhythm. Stay in Sandakan for city access, Sepilok for rainforest and conservation centres, Kinabatangan for river safaris, or Beluran for a slower village-style extension.
Sandakan
Best for airport arrivals, late departures, town access and a practical night before or after Sepilok, Selingan or Kinabatangan tours.
Sepilok
Stay close to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre and the Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Kinabatangan
Ideal for travellers who want early morning and late afternoon river cruises, lodge meals and more time in the Kinabatangan wildlife corridor.
Beluran
A quieter choice for travellers who want mangrove scenery, village atmosphere and a slower Sabah stay beyond the usual Sandakan route.
How it works
Accommodation works best when it follows the shape of your route. Our local team can help connect rooms, transfers and nature tours so your Sandakan, Sepilok, Kinabatangan or Beluran stay fits the time you have.
Short notes from guests who used Asia Green Travels accommodation as a base for Sandakan, Sepilok and Kinabatangan experiences.

Hotel Hsiang Garden
Stayed here 1 night and it was good. Nice staff in reception, wifi was good. Air condition was cold and easy to use. It is 10 min to Sandakan town and the restaurants around are very chep. I would stay here again if I ever go back.

Hotel Hsiang Garden
You're in the middle of the jungle. The cabins are huge, wooden, but very large. There are wooden walkways to the rooms. The dining room, pool and reception are not very large. The staff are very nice and help you in any way they can. It is very close to the orangutan reserve.

Borneo Sepilok Rainforest Resort
Definitely recommend staying 3D2N. We saw Borneo big 5 and it was amazing, everything we could have asked for. We even had the opportunity to plant trees in the nearby rainforest thanks to Kai (very very amazing guide at the resort and he made sure there was always something to do!)

Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort
We have had a 2D1N and our guide was KAI. What a great guide and he knew how to tell everything with a lot of love and passion for the area! We have seen no less than 4 animals of the big 5. The team is super sweet and the food is very good! We enjoyed and I can only recommend this Greetings Martijn and Jill

Rooms were a good size and clean, good aircon and has a tv. Wifi was a bit weak. Travel desk was very helpful!!! Assisted us in arranging onward travel and giving good advice for what to do in Sandakan. The restaurant in situ does nice juices. Few other local restaurants, shops and laundry service near by. Not a long journey to the animal conservation projects.
