Itinerary

Departure        : 0830 hours daily

Day 1      Sandakan / Selingan Turtle Island / (Lunch & Dinner Included)

Morning, depart from your hotel in Sandakan or meet at Sandakan Airport. Transfer to the jetty to take a boat ride to Selingan Turtle Island. Arrive the island, check in to your chalet. You day at your own disposal, ideal for swimming and snorkelling (weather permitting). After dinner, the park ranger will take you to witness the turtle laying eggs, transfer of the eggs to the hatchery and release of hatchlings to the sea. Overnight at the Chalet. 

Day 2      Selingan /Sepilok Orang Utan Centre/ Kinabatangan River (Breakfast, Lunch, Tea Break & Dinner included)

After breakfast, depart Selingan Island and return to the Sandakan. Proceed to the world-renowned Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre to witness the feeding of the iconic Orang Utan and a good opportunity to photograph these natural primates in their natural habitat. The centre was established in 1964 to help rehabilitate the Orang Utans which had been orphaned, or displaced by logging and clearing of secondary forests for plantation. The magnificent mixed dipterocarp forest offers a natural home to the Orang Utans, which slowly become less dependent on their twice-daily feeding of milk and bananas at the centre and eventually return voluntarily to the wild. Lunch included at local restaurant.

Continue your journey to Bilit by the Kinabatangan River and then on to Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort. Upon arrival at the resort, you will be greeted by our team and refreshment will be served followed by briefing featuring the overview of the resort routes & safety. Check in to your room.  At 1600 hours, river cruise in search of wildlife that is so prevalent in the area – a good chance to see proboscis monkey, orang utan, macaques, pygmy elephants, birds and other wildlife. Return to the resort. Dinner will be served. After dinner and subject to weather conditions, follow our in-house naturalist for a night walk in search of nocturnal mammals. Return to and overnight at the Borneo Natural Sukau Bilit Resort.

Day 3      Kinabatangan River / Gomantong Caves / Sandakan (Breakfast included)

Wake up to the calls of gibbons and hornbill. Proceed for another early morning cruise along the Kinabatangan River. Breakfast will be served. After breakfast, depart resort for a visit to Gomantong Caves to explore the largest limestone and bird nest caves in Sabah and home to millions of bats and swiftlets. When in season, you will be able to witness the bird nest collection by the local people. The journey will take approximately 2 hours drive and passing through rustic countryside and oil palm plantations. Drop off at the respective hotel in Sandakan or at Sandakan Airport for your onwards flight. 

Note: Do not wear bright color clothing such as red or yellow. Keep your belonging safe in your bag and avoid wearing jewellery especially dangling one. No food is allowed in the reserve.
